Training Requirements
Initial Certification Requirement: Initial 8-hour NAIC Partnership training course of which 2-hours shall contain Wisconsin specific Medicaid and long-term care information. |
Resident Producers: Wisconsin requires that resident producers take 6-hours of LTC insurance training and 2 hours of WI Medicaid training approved by the state of Wisconsin. |
Non-Resident Producers: Wisconsin has adopted partial training reciprocity. This means that non-resident producers may take a Wisconsin 8-hour NAIC Partnership course OR they may take an 8-hour NAIC Partnership course from another state plus a 2-hour Wisconsin specific Medicaid and long-term care course that has been approved by the state of Wisconsin. |
Refresher Certification Training: Updated July, 2011: Wisconsin now requires a 4-hour course be completed within each license cycle instead of 24 months from the date of the initial training completion. This training requirement is for both resident and non-resident producers. Wisconsin requires non-resident producers taking a course in another state to take a 1 hour stand-alone Wisconsin Medicaid training course. |
What do the Edition A and Edition B mean?
The self-study version of the 4-Hour Refresher Training is offered under multiple Insurance CE approval IDs to help learners satisfy CE non-repetition requirements.
LTC renewal training must be completed every two years. Most states do not allow the same CE course to be repeated within a single compliance period, and some also restrict repeating the same course in subsequent compliance periods. To ensure you can consistently earn CE credit toward your license renewal, we offer two distinct editions of the 4-hour self-study course that are designed to be taken alternately.
To avoid limitations in your resident license state, we strongly recommend alternating between Edition A and Edition B for each renewal period.
If you have previously taken training from our catalog, you can check which edition you completed most recently by reviewing your continuing education transcript or your course history under My Courses (found in the upper right-hand corner of the website). If you’re unsure which edition to select, contact us — our team is happy to help guide you.
